One casualty of the pandemic seems to be my ability to blog. My work life has gotten far more active and sitting in front of the computer longer, and writing, just isn't happening at this time.
There is, however, so much cat life going on. Siada, Layla and Malik are doing amazingly and are loving country life. They have much more fun in WV and there are so many cats outside to watch! Yes, the Furrals are doing well, and I am still chronicling their story as we work to get them all spayed and neutered. So far we have fixed 13 cats and homed 15 kittens (and one of those adults as well). It is exhausting, but will be very worth it. I DO have a Facebook Page for sharing their adventures - The Furral Report. We hope you can join us there from time to time. If you would like to contribute to the Furral Fund (money goes to spay, neuter and vaccinate both clowders), there is a GoFundMe that is currently running. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going and be in the glorious position to have No Stinky Kittens this summer!

I should keep points... which set of felines, the Kittons or the Furrals will make me go totally gray first? This morning started with one point to the outside crew. At least the idiots outside held off till 6am before the banshee wails of the meatball fight started. I went out to break them up, and it was actually so light from the recent full moon that I didnt need a flashlight, and no ice on the ground was a bonus. I chased the interloper (Spatz) off the porch. Put food in his Hole and started to walk Orange Boi back to the porch. Then when I finally ended up getting up for good, Layla earned a point for the House Kittons. 10:30am and I am still trying to drink that first cup of coffee and Dingaling Layla was on the shelf over the fridge wallering around. I told her three times to stop all the wiggling or she would fall. This is my lap every single night. I am going to pretend it is me they love so much, but in reality I think it is the warm and toasty tiger blanket.
This is the anniversary of the coming of Layla. She was chosen to be a playmate for Siada and I don't think either of us could ever imagine the endearing, goofball personality that our little Kraken would develop. She loves everyone and everything. She plays with the outside cats through the windows, fell in love with a skunk over the summer, and even once watched a mouse sit in her bowl eating her food in wide-eyed wonder.
You just gotta love a Layla. COVID has made me so very glad that we got the travel trailer and can at least periodically get a change of scene for us and the Kittons! I am sad that this was to be the last trip of the year, but feeling rather blessed that we had the option at all.
We already have reservations made for next year! |
